Fully Customized Self-hosted Solutions

Articles related to customization are written for a technical audience who have experience in web development. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are required.

You have three options to use your hosted solution for Instant Chat.

Option 1

The customer clicks a link on a channel form built into your website. To create a custom channel form, you can use the code for Custom Live Support Forms with self-hosted Instant Chat found in the Administration Center on the Channels tab, and a customized version of the Instant Chat stylesheet (InstantChat.css).

Option 2

The customer enters a PIN in a field built into your site. To create a custom PIN entry form, you can use the code for Custom LogMeIn123.com form with self-hosted Instant Chat found in the Administration Center on the Resources tab, and a customized version of the Instant Chat stylesheet (InstantChat.css).

The customer sees the customized Instant Chat interface as an integrated part of your site.

Option 3

The customer sees a customized Instant Chat interface in a new browser window. Use the window.open() function to open the Instant Chat interface in a ‘custom’ browser window.

Administration Center Settings
Master Administrators must provide a list of hosts from which they want to allow their customized Instant Chat to download the related custom JS and CSS resources.
Important: This setting is mandatory for accounts that self-host their custom Instant Chat resources.
  1. Log in to the Rescue Administration Center.
  2. Navigate to Global Settings > Allowed hosts for Instant Chat customization.
  3. Edit the Allowed hosts for Instant Chat customization (custom JS and CSS): field.
    Note: Each line should contain only one URL or domain name.
Customizations
  • For Channels, integrate the Channel Form and Instant Chat interface into your Internet/Intranet site using the code for 'Custom Live Support Forms with self-hosted Instant Chat' found in the Administration Center on the Channels tab
  • For PIN, integrate the PIN Code Entry Form and Instant Chat interface into your Internet/Intranet site using the code for 'Custom LogMeIn123.com form with self-hosted Instant Chat' found in the Administration Center on the Resources tab
