About Disruption free unattended experience
Unattended Access (UA) is a powerful feature that allows Technicians to support a device without an end user being present.
As a result, there are multiple security and compliance safeguards built in to prevent misuse – such as persistent notifications during and after the session that make it clear to the end-user that their device is being/was accessed, and the action of locking the device after the session ends to prevent unauthorized use from anyone physically near the machine.
While these features are essential, the ever-changing support landscape has brought new devices and use cases where these security features impede the support experience. To accommodate this, we designed a new version of UA that allows customers to provide better support for devices that are being used as signage displays, dashboards, kiosks, or any other use case where the display of the device is performing some other crucial function. In these scenarios, customers want to be able to provide support without interrupting the display of the device during or after the support session ends. They also do not need the device display to be locked after the session ends.
How can I enable Disruption Free Kiosk Mode?
Contact GoTo Support to have the feature enabled.
What options can I set up in the Disruption free mode?
- Disable screen locking: if checked, Rescue prevents the unattended process from locking the device once the UA session ends.
- Disable revoking access: if checked, Revoke Unattended Access option will be hidden in the System Tray and the UA menu.
- Disable prompts: if checked, in-session and post-session prompts will be hidden.
You can select any combination of the above options and then finish configuring the installer as usual. Then you need to deploy the newly created/edited installer.
Is Disruption free mode available on Windows and Mac?
In this phase of the development, the feature is only available for Windows devices.
Will I need to redeploy Unattended Access in order to use Disruption free mode?
Yes. You will need to remove the existing unattended access service on your device(s), then redeploy UA by either generating a new installer or editing an existing one in the My Account page.
If the Revoke Unattended Access option is hidden, how can I uninstall UA?
You can remove UA from the command prompt or from the Add or remove programs Windows option, where you have to select the LogMeIn Rescue Unattended item.
