Setting up the Technician Console

This article gives guidance to Rescue technicians.

Customize your LogMeIn Rescue Technician Console working environment.

How to Change Technician Console Color

Go to Options > Color Scheme to choose from the available color schemes.

All functionality is the same for all the color schemes.

How to Set Sound Alerts

Set the Technician Console to play sounds when particular events occur.

The sounds are standard bells and beeps and cannot be customized.

  1. On the Technician Console Options menu, select Configure Sound Alerts.

    Result: The Sound Alerts dialog box is displayed.

  2. You can set the following options:
    • Play a sound when the Technician Console is minimized and a new session enters a private or channel queue
    • Play a sound when the Technician Console is open and a new session enters a private or channel queue
    • Play a sound when a customer intentionally disconnects
    • Play a sound when the network connection is temporarily lost
    • Play a sound when a customer refuses a permission request
    • Play a sound when a session changes status to Urgent
    • Play a sound when new chat text arrives while the Technician Console is minimized or not in focus
    • Play a sound when new chat text arrives when the chat box is not in focus
    • Play a sound when a customer sends a file

    Result: A sound will play when each selected event occurs.

  3. Click OK to apply your settings.

How to Set Session-end and Log-off Prompts

Set the Technician Console to ask you to confirm each time you end a customer session or log off from the Technician Console.

  1. In the Technician Console, select Options.

    Result: The Options menu opens.

  2. You can set the following options:
    • Select Prompt Before Ending Session if you want to be asked to confirm each time you close a customer session
    • Select Prompt before Closing Console if you want to be asked to confirm each time you log off or close the Technician Console

How to Set LogMeIn Rescue to Automatically Start Sessions

You can set all PIN Code and Link sessions to go directly from Connecting status to Active without having to select Start on the Session Toolbar.

  • Select Options > Auto-start Incoming Private Sessions.
What to do next:
Tip: If this option is disabled, your LogMeIn Rescue administrator may have set the default behavior in the Administration Center (Administration Center > Settings > Technician Console > Auto-start incoming private sessions).

How to Set Default New Session Type

You can choose the session type you want the Create New Session window to offer as default.

Required permissions:
  • The agent's Technician Group must have permission to start Rescue Lens sessions.
  • The agent's Technician Group must have permission to start Private Sessions.
  1. In the Technician Console, select Options.

    Result: The Options menu opens.

  2. Under Default New Session Type, you can choose from the following options:
    • Last selected
      Note: This will offer as default the session type you last selected even if you did not eventually start the session.
    • Standard
    • Rescue Lens

    Result: When you click New Session, the Create New Session window is displayed. The session type you chose as default is automatically selected.

How to Enable Spell Check

Enable spell check to automatically check the spelling of all text you enter in the LogMeIn Rescue Chat panel.

  • To enable spell check, select Tools > Spell Check > Download [language] Dictionary.

    Result: The active spelling dictionary will appear with a checkmark next to the language name.

Results: Select Turn Off to deactivate the spell check.
