How to Configure Data Masking

Rescue Live Guide Administrators can use CSS selectors to mask data in specific fields in a web page and make them obscured for agents in a co-browse session.

  1. Log in to the Rescue Live Admin Center.
  2. Click the Live Guide tab.
  3. Click the Data Masking tab to add the web page(s) and the CSS selector(s) to your list.
  4. Type in or paste the URL of the web page from where you want to add CSS selectors and click Add.
    The URL of the web page is displayed.
  5. You can add the CSS selectors of your choice under the respective URL field.

    Note: You can delete or edit the URL later by clicking the Bin or Pencil icon respectively.

  6. Type in or paste the ID of the CSS selector into the Selector field and click Add.

    Depending on your browser, follow the applicable steps:

    1. Navigate to the web page from where you want to add CSS selectors.
    2. Right-click the field of your choice, and select Inspect. The selector of the field is highlighted in the Inspection window on the right.
    3. Right-click the highlighted area, and select Copy, then Copy selector from the drop-down.
    4. Navigate back to the Rescue Live Admin Center and paste the selector to the Selector field under the respective web page URL.

    2. Right-click the field of your choice, and select Inspect element. The selector of the field is highlighted in the Inspection window at the bottom of the page.
    3. Right-click the highlighted area, and select Copy, then CSS selector from the drop-down.
    4. Navigate back to the Rescue Live Admin Center, and paste the selector to the Selector field under the respective web page URL.
    1. Under Safari preferences in the Advanced tab enable Show Develop menu in menu bar.
    2. Navigate to the web page from where you want to add CSS selectors.
    3. Right-click the field of your choice, and select Inspect element.
    4. The selector of the field is highlighted in the Inspection window at the bottom of the page.
    5. Right-click the highlighted area, and select Copy, then Selector path from the drop-down.
    6. Navigate back to the Rescue Live Admin Center and paste the selector to the Selector field under the respective web page URL.

  7. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
    No data entered or displayed in the specified field(s) is going to be legible on the agent side in subsequent co-browse sessions.
